Applying for a F-1 VISA
In order to be issued an F-1 visa, you must have been accepted to UNOH and must have received a Form I-20. The Form I-20 has your SEVIS ID number and has our school code which you will need to apply for the visa.
First, pay the SEVIS fee of $350 dollars to the Department of Homeland Security before starting your program, you can pay it online.
According to number 5 on the Form I-20, you may enter the U.S. up to 30 days before your start date.
To obtain a visa the U.S. consulate or embassy in your home country will need:
- A valid passport valid for at least 6 months in the future
- UNOH acceptance letter
- Form I-20 from UNOH
- Original copies of financial documents
- Anything that proves to the interviewer that you intend to return to your home country once you complete your program of study
- Copies of your transcripts (original and translation)
- Copies of TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo scores and SAT/ACT if taken
Documents required for admission:

- A $20 US application fee will be collected.
Official Transcripts or Grade Reports from all previous institutions abroad and in the United States
- Sent directly by the issuing institution.
- The transcript must bear the appropriate official signatures, graduation/completion date, the seal of the institution that issues it and school contact information for verification.
Certified English Translations of Transcripts, if applicable
Evaluation of Transcripts
- This is required for all transcripts and grade reports issued by institutions outside the United States. We recommend using World Education Services or InCred.
- It is the applicant's responsibility to contact one of the evaluating companies and provide the necessary documentation and fees.
TOEFL, IELTS or Duolingo Scores, if applicable (within last two years)
- We will accept a minimum TOEFL iBT score of 61; a minimum CBT score of 173; a minimum IELTS score of 6.0; or a minimum Duolingo score of 100
SAT/ACT Scores (if taken)
- This can be a scanned copy sent via email or in the mail. Please make sure that your name is visible on the document.
Once admitted to receive the I-20, please be prepared to submit the following:

Sponsor's financial statements in English showing sufficient funds in USD *within the last 3 months
- All international students are required to provide a financial statement by United States government guidelines.
- Sponsors can be anyone that has legal rights over you or someone that financially supports you. You can list more than one sponsor; all sponsors will need to sign a Sponsor's Affidavit of Financial Support and provide financial statements.
- Financial statement should be in the form of bank statement showing liquid assets in US Dollars.
- Financial statements need to be officially translated to English.
