Student Employment may be obtained under the Federal Work Study (FWS) program, and when available employment may be secured under Institutional Work Study. The Federal Work Study Program allows students to seek on-campus employment and off campus community service opportunities.
FWS Eligibility Requirements are as follows:
A FAFSA application is required and verification must be complete (if selected) for FWS eligibility. The FAFSA will determine if the student meets the Federal need requirement for FWS. A student must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment in an eligible degree or certificate program, and must be enrolled at least half time. Students must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress standards and have a minimum of a cumulative 2.0 g.p.a. In addition, students must not be in default on previously borrowed Federal Loans nor have an overpayment record on previously received Federal loans and grants.
Job opportunities will be dependent on job availability within campus departments. In assigning a FWS job, a school must consider the student’s financial need, the number of hours per week the student can work, the period of employment, the anticipated wage rate, and the amount of other assistance available to the student.
Federal Work Study funds are not considered scholarship or grants, and will not be applied to student accounts or reduce student account balances. Students are provided a biweekly paycheck which the Department of Education partially provides funding for through the FWS program. This funding can then assist students in paying for their educational costs.
The Federal Work Study program provides great opportunity for students to obtain on-the-job training and gain employment experience that many employers are looking for. UNOH student workers are valuable assets to the UNOH community, and are able to gain knowledge and experience in different fields of work.
Visit Racers Careers to submit an application, or contact Career Services for more information.
On campus employment opportunities range from Financial Aid Assistants, to IT Lab Assistants, to Print Shop Personnel, Plant Department Assistants and Tutors to name a few. Check out the various departments that offer On-Campus jobs at the University of Northwestern Ohio.
