Anyone who has a temperature of 100.4 or above, is exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19, who has been in close contact with anyone who is COVID-19 positive, is required to consult their local healthcare provider immediately. Anyone who is lab-confirmed to be COVID-19 positive is required to notify Allen County Public Health. Students are also required to contact the Student Success Office. Employees must contact the Human Resources Office to await further instruction on isolating and contact tracing.

ISOLATION POLICY
Isolation is used to separate people infected with the virus (those who are sick with COVID-19 and those who have tested positive but are asymptomatic) from people who are not infected.
ISOLATION TIME REQUIREMENTS
Vaccination Status |
Symptoms |
Time in Isolation |
Masks required following isolation |
Everyone, regardless of Vaccination Status |
Asymptomatic |
A minimum of 5 days as long as you remain asymptomatic |
5 days after isolation |
Symptomatic |
If symptoms improve by Day 5, you can return on Day 6. If symptoms persist, continue to isolate for a total of 10 days |
Follow local guidelines |
Individuals testing positive for COVID-19 need to stay in isolation, which includes a private bedroom for the number of days listed in the chart above. They should remain in isolation for longer if their fever persists until they are fever-free without the use of medications for 24 hours; and until improvement of symptoms (beyond fever) is occurring. If at any point a positive individual is admitted to the hospital due to COVID-19 the isolation period is extended to a minimum of 20 days from the onset of symptoms or positive test date.
Students will need to make their own arrangements for isolation space. All students should have a personal COVID-19 plan, confirmed with their family, in the event of illness. If the student is unable to travel home (due to travel restrictions or other mitigating circumstances), the University will work to arrange quarantine housing for them. Food, beverages, medical, and hygiene supplies will be made available to the individual(s) living in on-campus isolation housing who request it. To request such supplies, students should contact Safety Services (419) 998-3167 or Housing (419) 998-3170. If the student has a UNOH meal plan, meals can be ordered and delivered to the isolation dorm by calling (419) 998-3129.
Students and employees residing off-campus must stay in isolation at their residence.
Students required to isolate must notify the Student Success Center (StudentSucces@unoh.edu) and their individual instructors for guidance on continuing course work.
Employees required to isolate should notify their supervisor of their absence. The employee must notify Human Resources (HR@unoh.edu) to manage the employee’s absence.
In accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations, the University will notify local health officials, employees, and students as required and as soon as possible of any case of COVID-19 while maintaining confidentiality in accordance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), the Family Education Rights to Privacy Act (FERPA) and other applicable laws and regulations.
QUARANTINE POLICY
Quarantine is used to keep someone who might have been exposed to COVID-19 away from others. Quarantine helps prevent the spread of virus that can occur before a person knows they are sick or if they are infected with the virus without feeling symptoms.

CONTACT TRACING
All members of the University of Northwestern Ohio’s community will be expected to cooperate with contact tracing efforts. Individuals with a positive COVID-19 test will be interviewed about the persons related to UNOH they encountered during the time they may have been infectious prior to the positive test or to the onset of COVID-19 symptoms. Anyone encountered will be asked to:
Self-quarantine based on the Quarantine Policy chart listed above and follow campus health and safety measures.
Any COVID-19 related information about members of the UNOH community will be kept confidential and will not be disclosed to anyone other than Allen County Public Health officials as required or UNOH employees responsible for maintaining the health and safety of campus.
