Human Resource Management

Human Resources personnel are vital to any business, large or small, as the individual or department can handle responsibilities ranging from recruiting employees, conflict resolution, managing benefit packages for employees, and be responsible for staying on top of labor relations regulations and best practices.

The HR Management degree program at UNOH will prepare students for a variety of careers in the Human Resource Industry. The required coursework mixes both hands-on industry experience with business and management courses, providing a well-rounded education.

The benefits of a career in Human Resources are plentiful:

  • Job Diversity – Human Resources can lead to a variety of career paths because coursework focuses on labor and employee relations, skills that can be used in almost any job following graduation.
  • Job Satisfaction – Even in an entry level position within HR, graduates will be able to see the impact made on the workforce such as making offers of employment to qualified candidates, promoting employees from within the company, adjusting salary and benefit packages, and help boost staff morale through training and coaching programs.
  • Working with People – If you enjoy meeting people and working with a diverse population, a degree in HR will allow you to do all of that in the course of your everyday work. From interview techniques, to conflict resolution, you will become an expert at managing staff relations which will benefit you throughout your career journey.

Graduates may start in an entry-level staff position such as Corporate Recruiter, Employment Representative, HR Coordinator, Human Resources Representative, Personnel Officer, Human Resources Assistant, Personnel Clerk, and more.

Additionally, students can utilize information learned in the program, combined with their HR experience, to take one of the Certification Tests, such as the SHRM-CP offered through Society of Human Resource Management, or the aPHR or PHR through the HR Certification Institute (HRCI), both valuable certifications for a resume or employment.
