Graduate Students -

Services, Tools, and support

  • Mentoring staff that welcomes students to the UNOH Virtual College and remains with them throughout the duration of their program. VC Support Mentors assist students with issues ranging from academic grades, skills required for online success, tools & resources available, faculty/course communications, getting started online, and various other topics associated with being a learner in the online environment. Live Mentoring sessions are offered throughout the quarter through Collaborate, a video conferencing tool integrated into all courses.
  • Instructional technologist will assist students with topics related to MOODLE, UNOH’s learning management system.
  • The UNOH Testing Center is a branch of the Virtual College Support Department and assists students with testing/proctoring options- More information is available at the Testing Center page.
  • All courses are designed using best practices for the online learning environment. UNOH is a member of both Quality Matters (QM) and the Online Learning Consortium (OLC).
  • Faculty are available for live weekly office hours and correspondence through Collaborate. Using the same tool, the Virtual College Support Department arranges live advising and library research sessions throughout the quarter for students.
  • All courses have engaging faculty lecture videos included to simulate a live face-to-face lecture. Likewise some courses provide students with the opportunity to create video presentations to simulate those that could be required in a traditional on-campus
  • All courses offer 24/7 free, live tutoring and essay review through Smarthinking which is integrated into each course. Various quantitative courses offer additional integrated tutoring support through the UNOH Math Lab.
  • Virtual College Support Department staff co-facilitate UN- 111 Foundations of Online Learning, a first quarter course required of new freshman-level online learners.
  • All new students are placed in VC-099 Classroom Success, a free, self-paced orientation course that introduces learners to the online learning environment at UNOH as well as the Virtual College Support Department staff. Students remain in this course for the duration of their program so that it serves as a continuous source of support.


The Virtual College Support Department is located beside the Racers Café next to the 100 building.


On campus walk-in hours for the Virtual College Support Department are 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.  Monday-Friday.

The Virtual College Support Department follows the University calendar and will close during holiday observances, and inclement weather delays and/or closings.
