University of Northwestern Ohio

Time Sensitive Information from the Director

Greetings to you and your family from the Financial Aid Office at the University of Northwestern Ohio! Now is the time to begin thinking about getting ready to obtain funds for the 2023-2024 FAFSA year as soon as possible after October 1, 2022.

Students continuing or starting after May 2023 in the College of Applied Technologies, College of Business, College of Occupational Professions, College of Health professions, or Graduate College must complete the 2023-2024 FAFSA application.

Much of the information your family will be supplying to the IRS via the 1040 Federal tax return is applicable in the preparation of your 2023-2024 FAFSA. A FAFSA on the Web Worksheet is very helpful to complete in order to prepare for the online application. It is important to note that the University of Northwestern Ohio's priority filing deadline for the receipt of the FAFSA is April 1, 2023.

You (and at least one parent if you are dependent) will need the U.S. Department of Education FSA User ID to complete and make corrections to both your FAFSA as well as applying for Federal Loans. You and your parents may obtain a FSA User ID by creating one at the FSA ID Portal.

It is also advisable to maintain signed copies of your Federal tax return and applicable schedules as well as your parent's tax returns and schedules if you are a dependent student. It may be necessary, if you are selected for verification by the US Department of Education, to submit the Tax Returns to the University.

Please note, that the 2023/2024 FAFSA will be available to complete as early as October 1, 2022. You can complete your 2023/2024 FAFSA by going to studentaid.gov this Fall which will determine your financial aid eligibility beginning June Session 2023 or Summer Quarter 2023.

Please be sure to use information that is as accurate as possible. The 2021 income tax information can be transferred from the IRS to your FAFSA by using the IRS Data Retrieval Tool. Using this process could reduce your additional required follow-up paperwork for the verification process. The IRS Retrieval Tool is available on the FAFSA application.

The University will send both an email and a postcard telling you when a Financial Aid Offer will be available. The Financial Aid Offer can then be viewed on your Financial Aid Dashboard at my.unoh.edu

Please let us know if you have any questions or if we can be of assistance as you go about the aid application process. We look forward to working with you in arranging satisfactory financial assistance for your enrollment at the University of Northwestern Ohio.
