UNOH is training the next generation of Mack and Volvo Professional Level Technicians. Receive an education unmatched in the industry by applying for a seat in the DATE program.
The University of Northwestern Ohio is excited to be aligned with Mack Trucks and Volvo Trucks and is one of only three schools in the nation offering the Diesel Advanced Technology Education (DATE) Program to fill an ongoing shortage of skilled vehicle service technicians in the diesel industry.
In today’s industry climate, entering the Diesel Technology field provides more lucrative career opportunities than ever before. Diesel specialists most often enter their career with little to no debt, tremendous employment opportunities, salary growth and job security.
As diesel truck technology gets more complex, the demand for highly trained service technicians continues to grow. The American Transportation Research Institute (ATRI) listed the Diesel Technician shortage as one of the emerging issues the industry is facing. ATRI estimates the Diesel industry will require 67,000 new technicians and 75,000 diesel engine specialists by 2022 to fill growth and retirements.
Employment opportunities are endless for the students who complete the DATE program. UNOH Career Services team will assist graduates in securing jobs with Mack or Volvo dealerships or other automotive industry employers around the world.
Students will receive specialized training for Mack Trucks and Volvo Trucks including:
Hands-on work is done in partnership with in-class instruction, preparing students to work in a fast-paced shop environment.
Instructors are Master Level certified by both Mack Trucks and Volvo Trucks. They also have years of experience and insight into the best ways to handle essential service and repairs for Mack and Volvo trucks.
Upon completion of the program students will be certified as Professional-Level Technicians for both Mack Trucks and Volvo Trucks and be prepared for immediate employment at any of the hundreds of Mack and Volvo truck dealerships across North America.
