Director of Distance Learning/Instructional Technology


The University of Northwestern Ohio is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Director of Distance Learning/Instructional Technology.

The primary responsibility of the position is to provide leadership and coordination to find, develop, maintain, and enhance technologies used by the University in course delivery for distance learning and web-enhanced courses, interactive multimedia, and classroom instructional technologies. This position supports faculty members and students in their training and development in the use of these technologies for both traditionally delivered courses and distance courses. This position is also responsible for supporting staff members in their training and development in the use of the technologies available to them by the University.

Qualifications for this position include:
• A baccalaureate degree in an applicable field of study; Master’s degree preferred.
• Proven incremental experience with distance learning and instructional technology.
• Strong project management, human resource, teamwork, and leadership skills.
• Possess good communications skills, analysis and problem solving skills, professional ethics, and the ability to learn new software/hardware concepts quickly.
• Should have experience with a learning management system such as ANGEL, Blackboard or WebCT.
• Have in-depth and broad knowledge of distance learning issues including copyright, pedagogies, marketing, and a vision of how distance learning and instructional technology may fit into the university strategic plan.
• Have experience as a team leader in initiating, planning, creating, organizing, coordinating, and directing projects.
• Teaching experience is a plus.
