Documentation
In order to better help our students with disabilities, the following
information will need to be on file with the Academic Skills Lab:
- The most current copy of a student’s
Individualized Education Plan (IEP) with the
accommodations listed (preferably from the senior
year, but it must include accommodations).
- A copy of the student’s psychological report that is no more
than 3 years old.
- A signed Consent Form.
Support Services
Peer tutoring is available to all of our student at a cost of $4/hour. All
of our tutors are required to have earned a “B” or higher
in their courses and maintaining a 2.0 or higher
GPA.
Smarthinking is an online tutoring service that is available for all students, free of charge. Smarthinking allows students to receive help 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and provides tutors in Math, Accounting, and Writing. Students can schedule individual tutoring sessions, submit questions and will receive a response within 24 hours, or you can stop by for a "walk-in" visit. Anyone wishing to utilize Smarthinking can email Danielle Myers at dmyers@unoh.edu for a username and password.
The lab also works with students on an individual basis for help in
the following areas:
- Test Anxiety
- Organization Help
- Time Management
To meet with the Academic Skills Coordinator for help in these particular
areas, set up an appointment for an individual consult.
