In the event that a student fails to meet any of the above criteria
in a particular quarter/session, the student will be placed on
Financial Aid Probation. A student in this category may receive
financial aid for the upcoming quarter/session.
If a student does not meet the minimum cumulative GPA during the
probation quarter/session, the student is placed on financial aid
suspension. Students placed on financial aid suspension are ineligible
to receive any financial aid and will be notified in writing.
Students who withdraw from classes during the refund period are
subject to repaying a percentage of their grants in accordance
with the Federal Law and the University of Northwestern Ohio's
refund procedures.
Students who receive grades of "incomplete" for one
or more courses must make arrangements with their instructors to
have this grade finalized. Students must contact their instructors
within two weeks of returning to the University for the next quarter
in the College of Business and within the first week of the College
of Technologies (as required). Failure to make arrangements with
the instructors or failure to correct the "incomplete" grade
will change the grade to an F; the course must be retaken.
Appeal of Financial Aid Suspension
Students who are suspended from further financial aid
for failure to meet satisfactory academic progress have the right
to an appeal. Students who wish to file an appeal must notify the
Director of Financial Aid or Assistant Director within two weeks
from the date the student was notified of his/her suspension of financial
aid. Students who file for an appeal must describe circumstances
explaining why satisfactory academic progress was not made and discuss
actions that have been or will be taken to make satisfactory progress
in the future. Documentation supporting the reason for the appeals
must be attached. An appeal should only be filed for the following
reasons: The student is injured, severely ill or has experienced
the death of a family member, which caused courses not to be completed.
Appeals submitted without documentation will not be considered.
If appeals are approved, students will receive
an additional probationary quarter/session of
financial aid during which they must EITHER receive
at least a 2.0 GPA (C average) for the quarter/session
OR meet the minimum standard of the academic
scale.
Minimum Time Frame
Federal regulations require each institution to
establish a percent maximum time frame in which
students must complete their programs. The maximum
time frame must not exceed 150% of the published
length of the program measured in credit hours
attempted. |
