The University of Northwestern Ohio has been successfully educating medical assistants since 1976, and according to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, the medical assistant profession is projected to be one of the fastest growing of all occupations through 2014. With no waiting list and a curriculum allowing you to receive an associate degree in only 18 months, the Medical Technology programs at UNOH are an excellent investment in your future.

Medical Assisting Technology

The University of Northwestern Ohio's Medical Assisting program is certified by The Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). Our curriculum allows students to perform administrative and clinical tasks including basic laboratory testing, drawing blood and instructing patients about medication, in the offices of physicians, chiropractors, and medical specialists.


Our 18-month program in Medical Assisting consists of a wide spectrum of courses, which cover:

  • Medical Terminology
  • Transcription
  • Recordkeeping
  • Insurance Processing
  • Medical Coding
  • Pharmacology
  • Medical Law and Ethics

Many students choose the UNOH program because we prepare our students to become either clinical medical and/or administrative medical assistants.
